Privacy Policy
Last Updated: September 14, 2026
1. Introduction
Qabool Cards ("the App") is an independently developed mobile application. This Privacy Policy describes what information the App handles, where that information is stored, and how long it is kept.
2. Information the App Collects
2.1 Information Provided by Users
- Display names: When a user creates or joins a multiplayer room, the name entered for that room is stored on a third-party cloud database service for as long as the room remains open. Any name may be entered, including a nickname.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Local progress and preferences: Cards viewed, guided session progress, and app preferences are recorded on the user's own device. Multiplayer room settings and the current card state are also stored in the cloud as described in section 4.2.
- Multiplayer participant identifiers: The App generates an identifier when a player creates or joins a room. This identifier is stored with the player's display name and the shared room data for as long as the room remains open. It identifies the participant in that room and is not an account or device identifier.
- The App contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking software, and collects no device identifiers, location data, contacts, or advertising identifiers.
- The App has no accounts and no sign-in, so it holds no email addresses, passwords, or profiles.
3. How Information Is Used
Information handled by the App is used only to operate its features:
- To keep two devices in a shared multiplayer room on the same card
- To record progress through cards and guided sessions on the user's device
- To respond to support enquiries sent to the address in section 12
Information handled by the App is never used for advertising, profiling, or automated decision making.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 On the Device
The user's history of cards viewed, guided session progress, safe card usage, and preferences are stored on the user's device. This local history is not transmitted. The settings selected for a multiplayer room and its current card state are also shared through the cloud as described below.
4.2 In the Cloud
Multiplayer rooms are the only feature that sends anything off the device. While a room is open, the following is stored on a third-party cloud database service:
- The room code
- The display name each player entered
- The generated participant identifier for each player, stored alongside that player's display name
- The deck settings chosen for that session, such as selected categories
- Which card the pair is currently on, and whether it is face up
- The room's waiting, active, or ended status and the host's content-access flag
- Timestamps recording when the room was created and last used
Answers, discussions, and anything said between the two players are never transmitted or stored. The App synchronises the room data listed above so both players can use the same deck and card state.
4.3 Security
Data exchanged with the cloud database is sent over an encrypted connection. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and users should not enter sensitive personal information as a display name.
5. Data Sharing
Personal information is never sold, traded, or shared for advertising. Information is disclosed only:
- To the cloud database provider that operates multiplayer rooms on the App's behalf
- Where disclosure is required by law
6. Multiplayer Rooms
When a multiplayer room is created or joined:
- The other player can see the display name entered
- The room and everything stored in it is deleted when the host ends the session
- A room whose host closes the App without ending the session remains stored until it is ended
7. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for adults considering marriage and is not directed at children. Information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18.
8. User Rights and Choices
Users may at any time:
- Reset card progress and guided session progress from the Settings screen
- Remove all locally stored data by uninstalling the App
- End a multiplayer session, which deletes that room and the names in it
- Request information about how data is handled by writing to the address in section 12
9. Data Retention
- Device data: Kept until progress is reset in Settings or the App is uninstalled
- Room data: Deleted when the host ends the session. A room left open remains stored until it is ended
10. Third-Party Services
Multiplayer rooms are operated using a third-party cloud database service, which stores room data on the App's behalf and does not use it for its own purposes. The App is distributed through the Apple App Store, and information collected by Apple in connection with that distribution is governed by Apple's own policy.
11. Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be revised from time to time. Revisions take effect when posted, and the "Last Updated" date above reflects the most recent revision.
